Runa Akhtar has taken on a larger leadership role at Cipla, where she has been promoted to Head of Marketing.
The move marks another step in her pharmaceutical career, which spans more than 15 years across brand management, product marketing and field sales.
Akhtar joined Cipla in April 2023 and was most recently working as Group Brand Manager in Mumbai. During her more than 3 years with the company, she built deeper expertise in pharmaceutical brand management while working across key therapeutic areas, including urology and respiratory care.
Before joining Cipla, Akhtar spent nearly 6 years at Ipca Laboratories Limited. She joined the company as Senior Product Manager in 2017, moved into the role of Group Product Manager in 2020 and became Senior Group Product Manager in 2022. Her tenure at Ipca gave her extensive experience in product strategy, brand development and portfolio management.
Earlier, Akhtar worked as Senior Product Manager at Koye Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd and Centaur Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. She also spent more than 6 years at Intas Pharmaceuticals, where she began as a Field Sales Officer before moving into a corporate marketing role as Senior Product Executive.
Her career has covered both frontline sales and corporate marketing, giving her experience across different stages of pharmaceutical commercialisation, from field execution and product management to brand strategy.
In her new role as Head of Marketing, Akhtar brings together more than 15 years of experience across sales, product management, brand strategy and therapy-focused marketing. Her promotion marks the latest progression in a career largely built within India’s pharmaceutical industry.
