Vivo is bringing its S-series back to India after several years, with the S2 scheduled to launch on August 6. The company has also revealed the phone’s design and colour options, while leaks have pointed to a large battery, curved display and MediaTek chipset.

Vivo confirmed through a press release on Friday that the S2 will launch in India on August 6 at 12pm IST. Official teasers show the handset in black and white colour options, with a glossy rear panel and a horizontal pill-shaped camera module housing 2 rear cameras.

The phone will also feature a centred hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. Vivo and Amazon have both created dedicated landing pages for the upcoming smartphone.

While Vivo has not yet confirmed the specifications, the handset is tipped to run on an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo chipset. It could pack a 7,050mAh battery with support for 44W wired fast charging.

The S2 is rumoured to be priced at Rs. 51,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The 8GB + 256GB model is expected to cost Rs. 55,999.

According to previous leaks, the smartphone could feature a 6.83-inch curved pOLED display with 1.5K resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The rear camera system is expected to include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX852 primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary camera. A 32-megapixel front camera could handle selfies and video calls.

The Vivo S2 may also offer IP68 + IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The launch is expected to mark the return of Vivo’s S-series to India. The company previously launched the S1 in the country in 2019.
