Bajaj Auto has disclosed that it was targeted by a ransomware attack that impacted the systems of both the company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto Technology Ltd. (BATL).
According to a regulatory filing, the cybersecurity incident was detected at approximately 8:00 am IST on June 23. Following the discovery, the company immediately activated its response protocols and deployed technical teams along with cybersecurity experts to contain the threat and minimize its impact.
“Immediately upon becoming aware of the incident, the technical team of the Company along with cyber security experts and the management responded promptly and initiated necessary precautionary actions and protocols to mitigate the impact of this incident,” Bajaj Auto said.
The company stated that, based on the information currently available, the measures implemented have been effective in mitigating the impact of the attack.
The ransomware incident affected systems at both Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Auto Technology Ltd., which serves as the company’s technology-focused subsidiary. However, the automaker has not disclosed the extent of the disruption, whether any data was compromised, or if production and business operations were impacted.
Bajaj Auto also confirmed that it has reported the incident to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) in compliance with the requirements of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The disclosure highlights the growing cybersecurity challenges facing organizations across industries as ransomware attacks continue to target critical business systems and digital infrastructure. Companies are increasingly investing in cybersecurity frameworks and incident response capabilities to strengthen resilience against evolving cyber threats.
