Deepinder Goyal has revealed that Temple has developed a new biomarker called “Entropy,” which the company says can measure the body’s real-time metabolic cost. According to Goyal, the biomarker can only be read from the temple region and is designed to continuously track how much energy the body is using at any moment.
The announcement was made through a post on X, where Goyal shared details about the new metric and invited users to apply for early access to Temple’s platform.
According to Goyal, Entropy appears as a live metric on Temple’s home screen and updates every second. The score ranges from 1 to 250, with lower values indicating deeper states of rest and higher values reflecting intense physical activity.
Goyal stated that the lowest Entropy readings recorded so far have come from experienced meditators during deep meditation. In contrast, the highest readings have been observed among elite athletes performing at peak levels.
Temple claims that Entropy reflects the body’s overall metabolic state and responds continuously to changes in daily activities and physiological conditions.
According to the company, factors such as sleep, stress, exercise, meals, caffeine intake, cold exposure, meditation and strength training can influence Entropy levels. Since these activities affect metabolism, the metric is designed to provide a real-time view of the body’s energy expenditure.
Goyal also introduced two related concepts. Entropy Maxima represents the highest level of physical output a person can achieve, while Entropy Minima refers to the body’s lowest recorded resting metabolic state.
Temple suggests that users should work towards increasing their maximum capacity while reducing their resting metabolic cost over time.
The company is currently accepting applications for early access through its website. However, Temple has not yet disclosed details regarding commercial launch timelines, pricing, supported hardware or peer-reviewed scientific validation of the biomarker.
The announcement has attracted attention from health and fitness enthusiasts, while several users have also requested more information about the sample size, testing methodology and scientific studies supporting the claims.
