Axis Bank promotes Sumit Jana to lead micro loans business

Sumit brings more than 23 years of experience across banking, asset and liability management, SME banking, forex, business development, and microfinance. Over the years, he has built a strong track record of leadership and business growth across some of the country’s leading financial institutions.

Before this elevation, Sumit held several key positions at Axis Bank, including NSM–SBB (G2) SVP I and Regional Head–West RTFX. In these roles, he contributed to business expansion and strategic growth initiatives across the bank’s operations.

Prior to joining Axis Bank, Sumit served as RH-West—Asset & Liability, West Zone, at DBS Bank and as Regional Head—Asset (South) at YES BANK. He also spent several years at ICICI Bank, where he held multiple leadership positions, including Relationship Manager – Corporate Banking Group, Regional Head – SEG Relationship Group, and Area Head – SME Asset Group.

Earlier in his career, he worked with Onida as Area Sales Manager and HCL Infosystems Ltd. as Sales Manager, gaining experience across sales, customer management, and business development.

In his new role, Sumit will lead Axis Bank’s micro loans business, with a focus on driving growth, expanding customer reach, and strengthening the bank’s presence in the segment.
