Enterprise software company Workday has more than doubled its workforce in India over the past 12 to 14 months, taking its employee count in the country to nearly 1,300 people.

The company is now preparing to expand its presence further with plans to open new offices in Delhi and Bengaluru, according to Workday India President Sunil Jose. Workday currently operates in Mumbai and 2 other Indian cities.

Jose said India continues to attract global capability centers because of its strong talent pool and cost-effective business environment. The company’s India operations support key functions including technology, finance, and engineering.

Workday is also increasing its investments in artificial intelligence to automate enterprise tasks such as payroll management and hiring processes.

According to Jose, one global retail company reduced its hiring time by 70% after implementing Workday’s AI-powered tools.

The company believes automation is rapidly transforming routine business operations, leading to rising demand for AI-related skills across industries.

As global enterprises continue adopting AI-driven systems, India is emerging as a major hub for technology development, innovation, and enterprise support services.
