Travel platform Ixigo has launched a redesigned AI-native app at its flagship tech event, ixigo NEXT, introducing a more personalised and conversational travel experience powered by artificial intelligence.
At the centre of the updated platform is Tara, a multimodal AI assistant designed to help users plan, book, and manage trips through natural conversations. Unlike traditional chatbots, Tara is deeply integrated into the app and can understand complex travel-related requests through voice, text, or tap interactions in English, Hindi, and Hinglish.
The company said Tara can process detailed prompts such as “show me hotels in Dubai with an infinity pool and a view of the Burj Khalifa” and even contextual requests like “Hi TARA, I forgot my anniversary, help me!” to provide tailored recommendations and travel support.
The new app also introduces Trip Mode, a feature that brings all post-booking travel details into a single interface. This includes boarding passes, gate information, baggage belt updates, traffic-based airport departure suggestions, real-time alerts, and personalised content recommendations during travel.
Ixigo has additionally launched Agentic Travel Flows, where AI agents independently handle travel-related tasks in the background. These AI-powered flows can send boarding passes directly to WhatsApp, update tickets in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, coordinate with hotels before check-in, monitor flight schedules, notify users about delays, and manage cancellations and refunds automatically.
The company clarified that all agentic AI features are optional, allowing users to remain fully in control of their travel experience.
Speaking at the launch, Group Co-CEO Rajnish Kumar and Group CEO Aloke Bajpai said, “With the new AI-native version of our app, we are reimagining travel as a conversational, intuitive, and deeply personalized experience powered by AI. We believe the future of travel will be agent-led, with AI that can understand intent, take proactive actions, and assist travelers seamlessly before, during, and after their trips.”
The launch highlights Ixigo’s broader push toward AI-driven travel experiences that move beyond simple booking tools and focus on proactive, real-time assistance throughout the journey.
