A leadership change is underway at Tata Communications, as its long-serving Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, A. S. Lakshminarayanan, retires at the close of business on April 13, 2026.
The company acknowledged his tenure and credited him with helping shape the organisation during his leadership. While specific milestones were not detailed, the board and leadership team expressed appreciation for his contributions and overall impact.
This transition follows a planned succession strategy. In January 2026, the board had already named Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (Designate), ensuring continuity in leadership.
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan brings over 30 years of experience across global and domestic enterprises. He previously served as Managing Director and Group Vice President at ServiceNow India, where he focused on expanding enterprise adoption of AI-led digital transformation and strengthening go-to-market capabilities.
Before that, he led the enterprise business at Bharti Airtel as CEO of Airtel Business and earlier headed its Enterprise division. His professional journey also includes roles as Chief Operating Officer at Capillary Technologies, along with advisory experience at Ernst & Young and Sequoia Capital.
The leadership shift reflects a structured handover, positioning the company for its next phase under experienced guidance.
