As part of its ongoing visual updates, WhatsApp is reportedly working on extending its Liquid Glass design to the chat interface on iOS. The change is expected to bring a cleaner and more modern look with translucent layers, depth effects, and smoother animations.
While some parts of the app have already adopted this design style, the chat screen still uses the older layout. Early reports suggest that WhatsApp is aiming to create a more consistent user experience across the app, although the feature is still under development and not yet available for testing.
According to a report, the updated design could significantly change how the chat interface looks and feels. The chat bar is expected to remain at the bottom but may appear as a floating element with a glass-like, translucent finish. This could allow background elements to subtly show through, creating a layered visual effect. The controls in this area, including the button to jump to the latest message, are also expected to be refined.
The navigation bar may also see changes. It could become transparent, allowing parts of the chat and wallpaper to remain visible beneath it. A fade effect might be added to ensure text remains readable while maintaining the new visual style.
The rollout of the Liquid Glass UI is expected to happen gradually. Even on devices where parts of the design are already visible, the chat interface has not fully adopted the new look. This indicates that WhatsApp is still testing and refining performance before a wider release.
In addition to the chat redesign, WhatsApp is reportedly working on other elements such as a voice note player that matches the same design language. Once development is complete, the updated interface is likely to be released first to beta users before a broader rollout.
