India’s rapidly growing gaming and creator economy is attracting stronger global interest as Tencent announced new partnerships to expand the country’s gaming and AVGC ecosystem. The company has joined hands with Services Export Promotion Council and Game Developers Association of India, while committing more than ₹10 crore towards industry development, mentorship, and skill-building initiatives.

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening India’s Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics sector through training programmes, developer engagement, and international collaboration opportunities. Tencent said the initiative will focus on curriculum development, industry training, mentorship programmes, and studio incubation support across different parts of the country.

Under its partnership with GDAI, the company plans to introduce several initiatives, including a National Game Jam expected to engage more than 10,000 students every year. Additional programmes include Train-the-Trainer initiatives, support for at least 10 gaming studios, and participation in the India Game Developer Conference.

Tencent executives said the company’s India strategy is focused not only on bringing global gaming titles to Indian users but also on helping strengthen the country’s local gaming talent ecosystem. The company also highlighted India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing gaming markets. Industry projections suggest player spending in India could touch $1.5 billion by 2028, while the country’s gamer base could rise to 724 million by 2029.

Industry experts believe the partnerships could help Indian gaming studios gain stronger access to international markets and export opportunities. The move also supports India’s wider push to strengthen its creative and digital economy, with the AVGC sector expected to require 2 million skilled professionals by 2030.
