Tanuj has been part of Standard Chartered’s leadership team for more than 9 years and currently serves as Chief Strategy & Talent Officer. In this role, she has led enterprise strategy, workforce transformation, organisational capability, and leadership development initiatives across the bank.
Her elevation to Group COO reflects her significant contribution to strategic execution, institutional transformation, and organisational growth.
Before becoming Chief Strategy & Talent Officer, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer for over 5 years. During her tenure, Tanuj played a major role in transforming the bank’s global HR, culture, and talent strategy, while strengthening workforce planning, employee engagement, leadership development, and organisational resilience across global markets.
Earlier, she also held the positions of Global Head, Talent, Learning & Culture and Global Head, HR, Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking, where she aligned talent priorities with long-term business and operational objectives.
Beyond her executive responsibilities, Tanuj also serves as a Trustee of the Standard Chartered Foundation and holds board positions with Sainsbury’s, Asia House, Vault22, NHS England, and the Financial Services Skills Commission. Her broader governance experience spans inclusion, public policy, strategic leadership, and organisational development.
Before joining Standard Chartered, she spent more than 17 years at HSBC, working across India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and London in multiple senior leadership positions. Her tenure culminated in the role of Group General Manager, Head of HR EMEA, Global IT & Operations and International Management.
With over 20 years of experience across global banking, enterprise strategy, operations, governance, and talent leadership, Tanuj brings extensive institutional expertise to her new role as Group COO.
