Sterlite Electric has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Vani Sundaram as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Sundaram took charge of the role in May 2026, bringing more than 13 years of experience across financial planning and analysis, controllership, financial reporting and corporate finance.

Vani announced the appointment through a LinkedIn post, describing it as a new chapter in her career. She also said she was excited to return to an organisation and an industry she already knows well.

In her new role, Vani will contribute to the company’s growth, profitability, capital allocation, governance and value creation. She will also focus on strengthening the finance function as a strategic partner to the business.

The appointment marks Vani’s return to Sterlite, where she previously held multiple finance positions. Her earlier roles included Head of Finance, AVP Finance Head and Chief Manager – Finance. She spent more than 4 years with Sterlite Power before moving into other finance leadership roles.

Before joining Sterlite Electric as CFO, Vani served as Director of Finance at Tenneco Clean Air India Limited. She previously worked at Azure Power as Head – FP&A and Controllership.

Her career also includes finance roles at Stryker and Indus Towers Limited. At Stryker, she served as Associate Controller & Manager – Finance. At Indus Towers Limited, she held the positions of Manager – FP&A and Assistant Manager – Financial Reporting.

Earlier in her career, Vani worked as an Executive at KPMG US and at B. Shankar Aiyar & Company.

Her return to Sterlite comes after experience across several finance functions and organisations. Sterlite Electric’s official website currently lists Sundaram among its Key Managerial Personnel and Senior Management Personnel, with her designation as Chief Financial Officer.

Her new mandate will focus on supporting growth and profitability, managing capital allocation and governance, driving value creation and strengthening finance’s role within the business.
