Star Air has appointed Prabin Dokania as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing an experienced finance leader with a background spanning aviation, management consulting and public-private sector organisations into its leadership team.
The airline announced the appointment through a LinkedIn post, highlighting his experience in financial leadership, governance, business transformation and strategic growth. Dokania is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) and Company Secretary (CS).
Dokania joins Star Air after serving as CFO of the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), where he was associated with the organisation from 2017. GSTN operates the technology infrastructure supporting India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, placing his previous role at the intersection of finance, technology and public-sector infrastructure.
His professional career spans several organisations and sectors. Before joining GSTN, Dokania served as CFO of Delhi Aviation Fuel Facility Private Limited, a GMR Group entity, where he was also a founding member. The company was established to develop aviation fuel infrastructure at Delhi’s airport. His experience at GMR Group extended from 2010 to 2017, following a stint at PwC between 2007 and 2010. Earlier, he worked at Indian Oil Corporation Limited from 1997 to 2007.
His experience in aviation-related infrastructure, alongside his work in finance and tax technology, brings a cross-sector perspective to his new role at Star Air. The appointment comes as regional aviation continues to be an important part of India’s efforts to improve air connectivity beyond major metropolitan centres.
Star Air, the aviation business of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, operates regional passenger services in India. Dokania’s appointment adds a finance leader with experience in both established organisations and infrastructure-focused businesses to the airline’s senior leadership.
The company has not publicly detailed any specific financial or operational priorities for Dokania following his appointment.
