SPARSH Hospitals appoints Kalappa K.B. as Group CHRO

SPARSH Hospitals has appointed Kalappa K.B. as Group Chief Human Resources Officer, strengthening its leadership team as the healthcare group enters its next phase of growth and organisational transformation.

In his new role, Mr Kalappa will oversee the group’s people and culture agenda, with a focus on talent management, leadership development, employee experience and organisational capability. His mandate will also include advancing HR through technology, AI and data-led practices, with the aim of building a more agile and future-ready workforce.

The appointment comes as SPARSH continues to expand its healthcare footprint across Karnataka. The group currently operates a network of eight multispecialty hospitals and is looking to strengthen the organisational capabilities required to support its growth.

Mr Kalappa joins SPARSH with more than two decades of experience across healthcare, hospitality and retail. Before this appointment, he served as Chief People Officer at Chai Point. His earlier career includes HR leadership roles at Aster DM Healthcare and Columbia Asia Hospitals, as well as experience with hospitality organisations including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and Taj Hotels.

His experience spans HR transformation and digitisation, talent management, leadership development and organisational change, areas that are increasingly central to the healthcare sector as organisations balance workforce capability with patient-centric service delivery.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman, Founder and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, SPARSH Hospitals, said that people remain central to the organisation’s ambitions and that Kalappa’s healthcare experience and strategic HR expertise would help strengthen its culture and organisational capabilities.

He has highlighted the close connection between employee experience and patient care, making workforce engagement and leadership capability important components of his priorities at SPARSH.

The appointment signals SPARSH Hospitals’ broader focus on building a strong people ecosystem alongside its clinical and operational growth. As healthcare organisations scale, the ability to attract and develop talent, strengthen leadership pipelines and create consistent employee experiences is becoming increasingly important to sustaining quality of care.
