In a major upgrade to in-flight connectivity, Singapore Airlines has confirmed SpaceX’s Starlink as its new Wi-Fi provider, with installations set to begin in Q1 2027 at Singapore Changi Airport.
The rollout will deliver speeds of up to 1 Gbps per antenna and remain free for all passengers. However, Premium Economy and Economy travelers will need KrisFlyer or PPS Club membership to access the service.
The upgrade will cover around 53 aircraft, including Airbus A350 Long Haul, A350 Ultra Long Range, and A380 fleets, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2029. Aircraft such as Boeing 787-10, Boeing 737-8 MAX, and Airbus A350 Medium Haul are not part of the initial rollout.
Currently, the airline uses GX Aviation Ka-band and Panasonic Ku-band systems, which typically offer speeds between 4 and 9 Mbps. These systems often face high latency, limiting usaThe rollout timeline spans nearly 3 years, likely aligned with broader cabin upgrades, including new First and Business Class cabins and an updated KrisWorld entertainment system. Initial deployments are expected on ultra-long-haul routes such as Newark, New York (JFK), and Los Angeles.
Singapore Airlines joins other global carriers adopting Starlink, including Qatar Airways, Air France, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, United Airlines, and British Airways.

With Starlink’s Aero Terminal technology, passengers will benefit from low-latency, gate-to-gate connectivity, enabling HD streaming, video calls, gaming, and large file uploads. However, some countries such as Japan restrict ground-based connectivity.
Real-world tests on other airlines show speeds exceeding 100 Mbps and even 200 Mbps, marking a major improvement over existing systems.
Yeoh Phee Teik said the upgrade will enable passengers to stay connected, entertained, and productive throughout their journey.
The airline will continue its current Wi-Fi policy. Suites, First Class, and Business Class passengers receive unlimited free access, along with PPS Club members. Premium Economy and Economy passengers must enter KrisFlyer details at booking or check-in to unlock free usage.
