Seattle’s growing technology ecosystem and its long-standing connection with India came into focus at the 1st Ideas4India forum, which brought together more than 40 Indian-origin CEOs and CTOs working across AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, cloud, aerospace and enterprise software.
The forum, titled ‘Ideas4India: Indian American Tech CEOs Forum | Unlocking the Tech Dividend’, was held on Thursday at the Consulate General of India in Seattle. It followed the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi in February and focused on innovation, talent and opportunities to deepen their technology ties.
Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella attended as the guest of honour. Speaking at the event, Nadella said he was proud to have witnessed Seattle’s technology community grow over nearly 35 years and welcomed its strengthening relationship with it. He also described AI as a general-purpose technology whose benefits would depend on its wide spread across countries, communities and sectors.
It’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, welcomed the interest among technology leaders in expanding the partnership. He reaffirmed it’s focus on an AI Mission built around inclusivity, openness, sovereignty, democratised access, safety and trust.
The forum included executives from Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, OpenAI, Anthropic, Intel, Veeam Software, Helion, Rhythms AI, Zenoti, Anicca Data, SeekOut and Stanley. Ajay Bhatt, inventor of the USB-C drive and former Intel executive, also participated.
In a post on X, the Seattle Consulate said: “IDEAS4INDIA: Celebrating the Tech Titans of Seattle! Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, along with Ambassador Vinay Kwatra, engaged with leading Indian-American tech CEOs, founders and innovators at the 1st IDEAS4INDIA: Unlocking the Tech Dividend Forum in Seattle. Seattle’s foremost technology leaders shared ideas and perspectives on innovation, talent and opportunities that can contribute to it’s AI journey and strengthen India-US Tech partnership.”
Discussions covered AI infrastructure, data centres, semiconductor design and manufacturing, quantum research, talent and skilling, aerospace and advanced manufacturing. The forum also highlighted companies with major engineering, research and business operations in it.
Under the India-US TRUST Initiative, both countries are working on AI, quantum, semiconductors, space, telecom and biotechnology, including co-development and co-production.
The consulate said Microsoft plans to invest USD 17.5 billion in India from 2026 to 2029, while Amazon has announced USD 48 billion between 2026 and 2030. Costco is also setting up its 1st Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad.
The event opened with a minute’s silence for Seattle technology leaders Samir Bodas and S. Somasegar, who were remembered for supporting the region’s technology ecosystem and start-ups.
