Saint-Gobain Group in India has appointed Chandrashekar Chettiar as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the India region. With nearly 25 years of experience in cybersecurity strategy, information security governance, enterprise risk management, regulatory compliance and IT infrastructure, Chettiar brings extensive expertise in strengthening cyber resilience and protecting digital assets.
Before joining Saint-Gobain, Chettiar served as Chief Information Security Officer at Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited from September 2022 to May 2026. He led cybersecurity governance across multiple business entities, developed governance, risk and compliance frameworks, oversaw cybersecurity audits and strengthened data protection practices. His responsibilities also included enterprise cyber risk management, board-level cybersecurity reporting and preparedness against emerging threats.
Earlier, Chettiar spent nearly 4 years at Tata Power as Enterprise Information Security Officer. He led cybersecurity initiatives across information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) environments supporting critical power infrastructure. His work included establishing centralised security operations, strengthening threat monitoring, implementing security governance frameworks and supporting ISO 27001 certification.
At Avanse Financial Services, he served as Chief Manager, contributing to regulatory security compliance and the implementation of information protection controls.
Chettiar previously worked as Chief Information Security Officer at IIFL Holdings Limited for over 3 years, leading information security governance, application security initiatives and cybersecurity planning. Before that, he spent around 3.5 years at L&T Finance as Chief Manager – Information Security, helping establish and develop the company’s information security function through enterprise risk assessments, policy governance and security awareness programmes.
He also served as Senior Consultant – IT Security Operations at Essar, managing enterprise security operations across its business environment.
Chettiar began his career in IT infrastructure and technical support, working as Support Engineer at Apex InfoTech, Senior System Engineer at System House Consultant and Senior FMS Engineer at CMS.
His career spans technology support, financial services, energy and industrial businesses, reflecting his progression into enterprise cybersecurity leadership. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning.
In his new role at Saint-Gobain, Chettiar will bring his experience in IT and OT security, risk management, data protection and cybersecurity governance to support the organisation’s information security priorities across India.
