Mastercard has announced the appointment of its current Chief Financial Officer, Sachin Mehra, to the newly created role of Chief Business Officer (CBO), underscoring the company’s focus on accelerating growth, strengthening customer relationships, and expanding its global payments and technology ecosystem.
In his new position, Mehra will help drive Mastercard’s business strategy, oversee key growth initiatives, deepen engagement across global markets, and support the delivery of innovative payment solutions and value-added services to customers worldwide.
The appointment reflects Mastercard’s confidence in Mehra’s strategic leadership, financial expertise, and deep understanding of the company’s global operations.
Mehra has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2019, playing a central role in shaping Mastercard’s financial strategy, capital allocation priorities, investor relations, and long-term growth plans. During his tenure, the company further strengthened its position in digital payments while expanding its capabilities in cybersecurity, data analytics, and value-added services.
Before becoming CFO, he served as Chief Financial Operations Officer, where he contributed to improving operational efficiency and financial performance across the organization.
Earlier, Mehra held several senior leadership roles within Mastercard, including Group Executive, Global Commercial Products; Group Executive, Business Finance Officer – North America; and Group Executive & Corporate Treasurer. Across these positions, he supported business expansion, product innovation, treasury management, strategic planning, and commercial growth initiatives.
Prior to joining Mastercard in 2010, Mehra served as Vice President & Treasurer and Vice President & Deputy Treasurer at Hess Corporation, leading treasury operations, financial strategy, and capital structure management.
Earlier in his career, he held the role of General Director, New York Treasurer’s Office at General Motors, where he gained extensive experience in corporate finance, treasury management, and global business operations.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning finance, treasury, commercial operations, and business strategy, Mehra has built a strong track record of driving transformation and long-term value creation.
His appointment as Chief Business Officer positions him to play a broader role in shaping Mastercard’s future growth strategy, strengthening customer partnerships, and advancing innovation across its global payments network.
