Sony Pictures Networks India has elevated Rupen Thakkar to Vice President and Head Counsel – Networks (Television and Sony Sports Network), StudioNext and Corporate, expanding his responsibilities across multiple business verticals within the organization.
In his new role, Thakkar will contribute to key functions across the company, further supporting its growth and strengthening its position in the broadcasting and sports entertainment industry.
Before this elevation, Thakkar served as Senior Lead Counsel – Sports Television and Corporate at Sony Pictures Networks India, where he played an important role in legal and corporate affairs related to the company’s sports and television businesses.
Prior to joining Sony Pictures Networks India, he held leadership roles across several organizations, including Unacademy, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, IndiaCast Media Distribution, Sahara India, Overseas Infrastructure Alliance (India) Pvt. Ltd., Nimbus Communications Limited, GeometricPLM, and FDC Limited.
Over the years, Thakkar has built extensive cross-industry experience, gaining expertise across legal, corporate, media, entertainment, and business operations, making him well positioned to support the company’s strategic objectives in his expanded leadership role.
