Roberta Duarte has returned to A.P. Moller – Maersk as Chief People Officer, bringing more than 25 years of international human resources experience across Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and North America.
Duarte returns to the global transport and logistics company after spending more than 10 years in senior people leadership roles across its global organisation. She most recently served as Chief People Officer at Werfen in Barcelona, a position she held since May 2024.
During her earlier tenure at Maersk, Duarte most recently served as Global People Function Vice President – Technology, Ocean, Logistics and Services, based in Copenhagen. She supported major global businesses and functions as the company continued to develop its integrated logistics organisation.
Her previous roles at Maersk included Global Headquarter Ocean & Logistics HRBP Lead, Asia Pacific HR Head and Latin America HR Director. Her assignments took her across Copenhagen, Hong Kong and Panama, giving her experience managing people priorities across different markets, functions and geographies.
Before joining Maersk, Duarte held several international HR roles with Citi and Citigroup Latin America. She served as HR Head for Costa Rica and Panama and earlier worked as Country HR Officer and Public Affairs Officer in Ecuador.
She also served as an HR Vice President supporting Corporate and Consumer Bank functions across 23 countries in Latin America. Her responsibilities covered staffing plans, talent management, compensation and employee engagement.
Earlier in her career, Duarte worked with SFG Latin America and Citi in Brazil, where she focused on strategic HR partnering, organisational change, performance and talent management, training, employee recognition and process improvement.
She began her professional journey as a trainee with the American Chamber of Commerce.
With extensive international HR experience and a previous decade-long career at Maersk, Duarte returns with a broad understanding of the company and its global operations. In her new role, she will lead Maersk’s global people agenda.
