Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi Note lineup with the launch of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in select global markets. The smartphone combines a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset, up to 512GB storage and a large 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.
Price and availability
In Japan, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at JPY 79,980 (around Rs. 47,900) for the 8GB + 256GB model. The 8GB + 512GB version costs JPY 99,980 (around Rs. 59,900). It is offered in Cloudbrush, Purple and Black.
The phone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The 12-bit panel supports DCI-P3, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It also includes 3,840Hz PWM dimming and Wet Touch Technology 2.0.
Performance and AI features
The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. It runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
AI tools include AI Eraser Pro, AI Reflection Removal, AI Image Enhancement, AI Sky and AI Bokeh. Google Gemini features are also supported, although availability depends on the region and software version.
For photography, the phone gets a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. The rear setup supports 4K video recording at 30fps, while the 32-megapixel front camera can also record 4K video at 30fps.
Connectivity includes 5G, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC. The device also has an infrared blaster, accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.
The 10,000mAh battery supports 100W wired charging and up to 27W wired reverse charging. Security features include an in-screen fingerprint sensor and facial recognition.
Xiaomi says the phone meets IP66 and IP68 water and dust resistance ratings. It measures 163.44mm x 78.27mm x 8.65mm, while the Cloudbrush variant is 8.57mm thick. The device weighs 229.5g.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max are tipped to launch in India on September 15.
