Realme is reportedly preparing to make major changes to its smartphone portfolio after announcing its exit from the Chinese smartphone market. According to new reports, the company is not expected to launch new Realme GT and Neo series smartphones globally this year as it shifts its focus to international markets.
The latest information suggests that it’s numbered smartphone series will replace the GT and Neo lineups in global markets. Alongside smartphones, the company is also expected to introduce new audio products in selected regions and is reportedly considering a new gaming-focused tablet aimed at performance enthusiasts.
The reported strategy follows the recent announcement by Realme President Xu Qi Chase that the company will no longer operate in the Chinese smartphone market. He said the brand will focus its resources on strengthening its presence globally, with greater emphasis on performance-oriented and gaming devices.
As part of its restructuring, Realme has also confirmed that its smartphones will gradually transition from Realme UI to Oppo’s ColorOS. Oppo will manage software updates and after-sales support going forward. Reports also suggest that existing Realme smartphone inventory in China is expected to last until November.
In India, Realme is also expected to move its devices to ColorOS 17, based on Android 17. OnePlus has similarly confirmed that its smartphones will adopt the Android 17-based ColorOS 17 update. The changes come after Oppo absorbed several Realme divisions and operational teams during the company’s restructuring.
The most recent smartphones in the discontinued lineups were the Realme Neo 8 and GT 8 Pro. The Realme Neo 8 was launched in China on January 22 at a starting price of CNY 2,399, approximately Rs. 33,000, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and an 8,000mAh battery.
