Razorpay Unveils India’s First AI-Integrated Payment Gateway with MCP Server

Razorpay has introduced India’s first payment gateway utilizing an official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server.

This innovative server connects payment systems with AI platforms, allowing users to integrate transaction capabilities directly into AI-driven tools such as chatbots, applications, and autonomous agents.

Shashank Kumar, the founder of Razorpay, highlighted the ease and speed this brings to daily transactions. To utilize this feature, users need to install the Razorpay MCP server and configure an MCP-compatible client like Claude Desktop, VS Code, or Cursor. After setup, AI assistants can perform real-time payment actions effortlessly.

Developers can find the complete integration guide on GitHub, simplifying the setup process. This launch showcases Razorpay’s dedication to revolutionizing the digital payment sector with faster, smarter, AI-enhanced solutions.

The MCP, created by Anthropic, is an open standard that enables AI systems to interact with external tools and data in a structured and consistent way. It allows large language models (LLMs) to execute live tasks, such as API calls, database queries, or file reading, enhancing the functionality and connectivity of AI, similar to how a USB-C port seamlessly connects various devices.
