RAKBANK has expanded the technology leadership responsibilities of Tapas Kumar Mondal, appointing him as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer – Digital and AI. Mondal has been with the bank for more than 14 years and brings around 20 years of experience in digital banking and technology.
In his new role, Mondal will oversee Digital Channels, Technology, Engineering and AI, along with responsibilities covering technology strategy and enterprise architecture. His expanded mandate includes technology architecture supporting digital banking operations and new customer-facing services.
Before the appointment, Mondal served as Executive Vice President and Head of Architecture, Strategy and Design at RAKBANK. He previously worked as Senior Vice President and Head of Architecture, along with holding several enterprise architecture positions at the bank.
During his tenure, Mondal contributed to technology initiatives covering digital channels, mobile banking, SME onboarding, open APIs, cloud systems, analytics and next-generation banking architecture.
His professional background is focused on technology architecture, software engineering and digital transformation in financial services. His experience includes cloud adoption, enterprise systems, data platforms, API-led infrastructure and digital banking architecture.
These areas are becoming increasingly important for financial institutions seeking to improve technology scalability, digital delivery and integration across platforms.
Before joining RAKBANK, Mondal worked with SAS R&D India and Satyam Computer Services. His early career included roles in product architecture, software engineering, and banking and financial services technology. This gave him experience across product development and enterprise technology systems.
The latest appointment gives Mondal a broader technology leadership mandate covering digital channels, engineering, AI and enterprise architecture, as banks continue to strengthen their technology operating models.
