Presenting the state’s half-year crime review, Rajasthan Police announced a decline in several major crime categories while highlighting stronger action against cybercrime, narcotics trafficking and organised criminal networks.

Addressing a press conference at the Rajasthan Police Academy, DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma said 94,652 BNS cases were registered between January and June 2026, compared to 99,272 cases during the same period in 2025, marking a 4.65% decline. Cases under local and special laws, however, increased by 4.25% from 49,087 to 51,172, reflecting enhanced enforcement.

Police data showed a decline in serious crimes, including murder, which fell by 4.41% to 672 cases, attempt to murder by 11.17% to 1,145, dacoity by 16.28% to 36, robbery by 19.93% to 462, kidnapping and abduction by 4.72% to 4,965, rape by 13.36% to 1,809, POCSO cases by 20.90% to 1,306, and SC/ST Act cases by 18.81% to 2,534. Property recovery also improved, with robbery recovery increasing to 79.09%, burglary recovery to 58.24%, and stolen property recovery to 24.79%.

The police intensified action against narcotics and illegal arms, registering 7,195 NDPS Act cases, up 29.94% from last year. Arms Act cases reached 6,700, while Excise Act cases rose to 24,811. Investigation time in rape cases dropped from 81 days to 52 days, while POCSO investigations were reduced from 78.2 days to 51.2 days.

To strengthen cyber policing, the state announced the Rajasthan Cyber Crime Control Centre (R4C) and an AI-enabled 1930 Cyber Helpline Call Centre with a budget of ₹100 crore. Cyber police stations are now operational across all 41 police districts, while cyber help desks have been established at every police station. Since January 2026, 405 online zero-FIRs for cyber fraud cases involving up to ₹5 lakh have been registered. Police also traced 1.84 lakh lost mobile phones, returned 61,346 devices, and blocked over 1.25 lakh SIM cards and 1.19 lakh IMEI numbers linked to cybercrime.

The DGP said police registered 34 cases against organised narcotics networks, arrested 83 accused, acted against 224 drug trafficking hotspots across 20 districts, and demolished or attached properties worth ₹7.36 crore linked to alleged traffickers. The ATS also registered 3 UAPA cases, arrested 3 accused, monitored 728 individuals online and initiated de-radicalisation measures for 15 youths.

Looking ahead, Rajasthan Police will continue targeting properties linked to narcotics trafficking, strengthen action against organised crime through the Anti-Gangster Task Force, pursue extradition of wanted criminals operating abroad and enhance cyber policing through the proposed R4C.
