As cybercrime becomes more organised and technologically advanced, global organisations are coming together to improve collaboration and intelligence sharing against digital threats.
Orange Cyberdefense has joined the World Economic Forum-hosted Cybercrime Atlas initiative called ‘Cosmos’, a global project designed to map and classify cybercriminal ecosystems. The initiative aims to build a shared universal framework that helps law enforcement agencies, researchers, institutions, and private sector experts better understand and disrupt cybercrime operations worldwide.
The project focuses on identifying the links between threat actors, criminal marketplaces, infrastructure providers, intermediaries, and monetisation channels used in cybercrime activities.
Orange Cyberdefense is contributing cyber threat intelligence, open-source research expertise, and technical support to the initiative. The company is also helping develop an interactive knowledge-graph platform that allows users to visually explore cybercrime networks and connections.
“Cybercrime has become an industrial-scale societal threat that demands a collective, open-source response. Our collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the launch of ‘Cosmos’ exemplify our commitment to building trust through transparency, collaboration, and shared intelligence — essential for building a safer digital society,” said Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense.
The Cybercrime Atlas initiative aims to improve international cooperation by creating a universal taxonomy of cybercrime using open-source research and industry expertise.
“The Cybercrime Atlas capitalizes on open-source research and the extensive knowledge of leading companies and experts to map cybercrime networks. The insights generated are supporting greater cooperation between the private sector and public sector to combat cybercrime,” said Seán Doyle, Lead of the Cybercrime Atlas at the World Economic Forum’s Centre for Cybersecurity.
Orange Cyberdefense said its contribution to the initiative is being provided on a pro bono basis. The company is working alongside academic institutions and private-sector organisations to support intelligence structuring, research, and data collection.
The visualisation platform being developed is based on the company’s Cybercrime Now technology and is designed to help users navigate cybercrime ecosystems more effectively through interactive mapping tools.
