OpenAI has revised its subscription usage policy after receiving feedback from subscribers about planned reductions. The company has now decided to double usage limits across its ChatGPT Pro $100 (approximately Rs. 9,500), $200 (approximately Rs. 19,000) and $500 (approximately Rs. 47,000) plans, along with Business Premium subscriptions. The updated allowances take effect immediately.
OpenAI revises ChatGPT Pro usage limits
Thibault Sottiaux, a software engineer and Product Executive at OpenAI, announced the changes in a post on X. The revised limits reverse the company’s earlier plan, announced in September, to reduce usage allowances for select ChatGPT Pro subscriptions without changing their prices.
The reduction in the ChatGPT Pro $200 plan was scheduled to begin on October 29. However, following the latest announcement, the planned cut will no longer take place. The decision also addresses concerns around ChatGPT Work and Codex, which share usage allowances under eligible subscriptions.
Sottiaux said, “We heard your kind feedback and won’t be reducing usage limits for Pro 200, so your Work and Codex usage will stay the same.”
The latest move means subscribers will retain their existing usage allowances instead of facing the previously announced reduction.
OpenAI continues extended limits for personal AI agents
Alongside the subscription changes, Sottiaux also provided an update on dots, OpenAI’s personal AI agents designed to work in the background and handle ongoing tasks.
The company will continue providing extended usage limits for dots for now. Sottiaux also clarified that activity involving these agents will remain separate from a user’s standard ChatGPT subscription allowance. This means using dots will not reduce the usage available under the regular subscription.
However, OpenAI has not confirmed how long these extended limits will remain in place.
Sottiaux added that the company will continue introducing improved AI models and efficiency updates, which are expected to increase the effective usage available to subscribers over time.
