OpenAI has appointed Victoria Pointon as Head of Deal Strategy for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), bringing experienced commercial leadership to support its regional business operations and strategic priorities.
Pointon has approximately 15 years of experience across commercial strategy, deal structuring, business operations, sales and project finance. Her expertise includes strategic negotiations and managing commercial operations across international markets.
In her new role, Pointon will join OpenAI’s regional team, where she will apply her experience in deal strategy and commercial negotiations to support business priorities across Asia Pacific and Japan.
Before joining OpenAI, Pointon spent more than 3 years at Okta as Head of Deal Strategy – APJ. She was responsible for commercial negotiations and deal strategy across the region.
Earlier, she spent approximately 6.5 years at Everpure, progressing through roles in sales, customer experience operations and deal strategy. Her most recent position was in Deal Strategy – APAC, following earlier responsibilities in customer experience operations and sales across Australia and New Zealand. These roles helped her develop expertise in regional commercial operations, customer engagement and strategic deal management.
Pointon began her career in project finance and spent approximately 6 years at McDermott International as Project Finance Manager. During this period, she worked across international locations, including the United Kingdom, the United States and the Netherlands.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Keele University. Her appointment brings together experience in commercial strategy, financial management and regional business operations to support OpenAI’s activities across Asia Pacific and Japan.
