OnePlus appears to be preparing its next-generation Turbo smartphone, with early reports pointing to a December launch in China. The rumoured OnePlus Turbo 7 is expected to bring several upgrades over the previous model, including a new processor, a high-resolution rear camera and a faster display.
OnePlus Turbo 7 launch timeline and expected specifications
According to details shared by tipster Smart Pikachu in a Weibo post, the OnePlus Turbo 7 could launch in China in December. If the reported timeline is accurate, the company may introduce the new model 1 month earlier than the previous generation.
The smartphone is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s unreleased octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chipset, which could deliver a performance improvement over its predecessor. It is also expected to feature a 200-megapixel rear camera. However, the device may not include a periscope telephoto camera, similar to the standard OnePlus Turbo 6.
The upcoming handset is also said to feature a new display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz in specific scenarios and up to 165Hz under regular conditions. A glass body is also expected.
OnePlus Turbo 6: Specifications and features
The OnePlus Turbo 7 is expected to succeed the OnePlus Turbo 6, which was launched in China on January 8. The previous model started at CNY 2,099 (approximately Rs. 30,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
The OnePlus Turbo 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, paired with an Adreno 825 GPU. It offers up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
For photography, the handset features a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It also has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies.
The device packs a 9,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging.
The OnePlus Turbo lineup currently includes 5 models, with the Turbo 6V being its latest addition. The Turbo 6 was launched alongside the Turbo 6V in January.
