Oppo's reported restructuring may lead OnePlus to withdraw from major global markets

OnePlus is reportedly planning to wind down its operations in the U.S. and Europe as part of a wider restructuring by its parent company, Oppo. According to a person familiar with the matter, the process could begin as early as this week.

The reported restructuring is also expected to impact other Oppo-owned brands. Realme is said to be preparing to exit the China market, while OnePlus will continue its operations in China for the time being. The brand’s planned shutdown is expected to extend to other global markets, including India, sometime in 2027.

A spokesperson for Oppo and OnePlus declined to comment on the reported developments.

The report states that the decision is driven by financial challenges within Oppo’s smartphone business, slowing market momentum in the U.S., Europe, and India, geopolitical concerns surrounding Chinese smartphone brands in the U.S., and an ongoing trade secrets lawsuit involving Apple.

OnePlus earned a strong reputation by offering high-performance Android smartphones at competitive prices. If the reported plans are implemented, they would represent a significant shift in the company’s global business strategy.
