OnePlus is preparing to introduce its next flagship later this year, and a new leak has revealed the expected specifications of the OnePlus 16. The handset is tipped to combine a high-refresh-rate display, a new Snapdragon chipset, a large battery and an upgraded camera setup.
According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 could feature a BOE X4 display with a 165Hz global refresh rate. The panel may also support up to 185Hz specifically for gaming. The OnePlus 15 also uses a BOE Flexible AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate.
The upcoming flagship is tipped to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly built on TSMC’s 2nm process. The chipset could feature an octa-core CPU in a 2+3+3 tri-cluster configuration and an Adreno 850 GPU. The phone is also expected to run ColorOS 17.
For photography, the OnePlus 16 could feature a triple rear camera system. It may include a 200-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor. Connectivity could include the N79 5G band.
The phone is also tipped to pack a 9,000mAh typical-capacity battery, with a rated capacity of 8,780mAh. It may use a dual-cell battery design and support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
If accurate, the battery would be larger than the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh cell. However, wired charging could be slower, as the predecessor supports up to 120W fast charging.
OnePlus has already teased the “Wind Chaser Gaming Core”, “High Refresh Rate” and “E-Sports Triple Chip” features. The company has also confirmed a display supporting up to 165Hz and gaming at up to 165 fps on select titles.
The official launch date has not been announced, with more details expected closer to the launch.
