A Mumbai-based startup has drawn widespread attention online after its founder introduced a 64-year-old intern, prompting discussions about the value of experience, mentorship, and age diversity in the workplace.
The viral video was shared on Instagram by founder Joshua Salins and shows the senior intern interacting with younger team members at the office. In the clip, employees are seen listening closely as he shares insights and engages with the team.
The video featured the text: “Pov: You have a 64 year old intern at your Startup. Priceless knowledge of building and scaling companies. Helping shape culture within the organisation out of experiance. Free boost of motivation when the team feels low (causes he’s been through it).”
Alongside the video, Joshua wrote: “We just got a 64 year old intern in the office and it’s the best decision we’ve made.”
The post quickly gained traction, with many social media users curious about the unusual role. Responding to a user who asked why the individual was an intern, Joshua explained that the man wanted to remain active and continue contributing rather than retire.
He wrote: “cause he wanted to keep working and didn’t want to just sit at home. Also he has so much knowledge to give when he can so helps out alot !”
The explanation resonated with many viewers, who praised the startup for embracing experience and creating opportunities for intergenerational collaboration.
Several users shared supportive comments. One wrote, “Wow, the movie brought to life. Love this.”
Another commented, “Absolutely beautiful. Being an emotional person, I got teary-eyed… Loved this concept, loved that you involved an experienced man with tonnes of years of bringing something to the table. loved how you guys are supporting. Kudos man! Keep shining.”
A third user added, “Honestly, between me and me, he’s the cooler intern by a long shot,”
The video has since sparked broader conversations about how experienced professionals can continue to contribute meaningfully in modern workplaces while helping younger teams grow through mentorship and real-world insights.
