Meta has quietly introduced a new discussion-focused social media platform called Forum, expanding its push into community-based conversations and AI-powered user experiences. The app recently appeared on the iOS App Store without any formal announcement from the company.
The new Forum app is designed around Facebook Groups and appears to function similarly to Reddit by focusing on discussions, recommendations, and community interactions. According to the app description, Forum is “a dedicated space built for deeper discussions, real answers and the communities you care about.”
Users are required to sign in using their Facebook account, after which their existing groups, profile information, and activity are automatically transferred to the Forum platform. The app also allows users to post using nicknames while continuing to interact within their existing Facebook communities.
Meta says the platform is built to “brings people together around the things they care about, from niche hobbies to local recommendations to support groups,” signalling its focus on interest-based online communities.
The Forum interface includes a conversation feed that displays ongoing discussions from a user’s groups. It also allows users to continue discussions from where they previously stopped.
One of the key additions is the new ‘Ask’ feature, which gathers responses from multiple groups to help users receive quick answers and recommendations across communities.
Meta has also integrated AI-powered tools for group administrators. The app includes an AI-based admin assistant that can help moderators manage communities, monitor content, and support healthier discussions while still allowing admins to maintain overall control.
The Forum app will continue to stay connected with Facebook Groups, meaning content shared on Forum will also appear inside the original Facebook Groups.
The app currently supports devices running iOS 18 or later and carries an age rating of 13 years and above. However, the rollout appears to be limited to selected regions for now, as the app is not yet available on the App Store in India.
The launch highlights Meta’s growing focus on AI-assisted social experiences and community-driven platforms as competition in online discussion spaces continues to increase.
