Marc Camus Appointed as BNP Paribas’ New Group CIO

In a strategic move to reinforce its technological leadership, BNP Paribas has announced that Marc Camus, the current CIO of BNP Paribas Fortis, will take on the role of Group Chief Information Officer, effective 1 April 2025. Camus will join the BNP Paribas Executive Committee and report directly to Philippe Maillard, the bank’s Chief Operating Officer.

In his new role, Camus will continue to build upon BNP Paribas’ robust IT strategy, furthering advancements that benefit not only the bank’s clients but all entities across the group. He will play a central role in overseeing the security of the bank’s IT systems, improving operational efficiencies, and driving forward the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence and cloud computing, to enhance the overall customer experience.

Camus will work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and other key functions within the organization, fostering a collaborative environment that ensures the seamless deployment of IT solutions that meet evolving customer needs.

Meanwhile, Bernard Gavgani, the current CIO, will transition into a new advisory role, continuing to contribute his expertise to BNP Paribas as a Senior Advisor. He will focus on supporting major clients and suppliers in the technology sector, reporting to Yann Gérardin, the Chief Operating Officer of Corporate & Institutional Banking.

Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, Director and CEO of BNP Paribas, expressed his confidence in the appointment: “I am pleased to welcome Marc Camus to our Executive Committee and wish him every success in his new role.
