Syngenta Group has elevated Madelyn Schmidlin to Global Head of HR Operational Excellence, expanding her leadership responsibilities across global human resources operations and service delivery. She brings more than 15 years of experience in HR services, workforce management, procurement, vendor management and organisational transformation.
Schmidlin has been associated with Syngenta Group for more than 5 years, progressing through leadership roles across procurement, external workforce management and global HR services. Before her latest elevation, she served as Global Head of HR Services for more than 2 years, overseeing HR operations, service delivery and vendor management.
Earlier, she worked as Global External Workforce Management Lead (HR), focusing on workforce practices, stakeholder engagement and operational processes. She also served as Head of Professional Services Procurement, where she led category management initiatives, strategic sourcing and supplier engagement while working with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for value creation.
Before joining Syngenta Group, Schmidlin spent more than 7 years at Roche in global procurement and workforce management roles. Her responsibilities included serving as Head of People & Culture Procurement (Workforce), where she supported talent attraction and retention through supplier management, process improvement and technology implementation.
As Global Category Lead – Temporary Labor at Roche, she worked on developing an enterprise-wide external workforce strategy, including operating models and technology deployment. Her work supported a global contingent workforce portfolio involving more than 6,000 workers and 300 suppliers. She also held positions as Global Category Manager – Pharma Professional Services and Procurement Partner.
Schmidlin’s earlier experience includes working as a Professional Services Procurement Consultant at High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd in London and as a Procurement Officer at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the British Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela.
Her career reflects a progression from procurement and supplier management to global workforce strategy and HR operations. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Coventry University.
In her new role at Syngenta Group, Schmidlin will draw on her experience in HR services, operational governance and process improvement to strengthen global HR delivery and support the organisation’s focus on operational excellence.
