In a move to deepen its footprint in advanced manufacturing, Larsen & Toubro has entered the B2B industrial electronics segment with a newly launched business unit and operational rollout in Tamil Nadu.
The company has set up L&T Electronic Products & Systems (LTEPS), with its headquarters in Bengaluru and manufacturing operations at its Coimbatore campus. This marks a focused expansion into technology-driven manufacturing.
At the initial stage, 2 manufacturing lines have been commissioned to deliver electronics manufacturing services for both domestic and global markets. The initiative reflects a strategic push into high-growth sectors.
The new vertical will cater to key segments including power electronics, mobility, industrial robotics and automation, communication systems, and electronics design and manufacturing.
Leveraging its experience in strategic electronics, the company plans to follow a blended model combining in-house R&D, technology collaborations, and advanced testing capabilities.
The Coimbatore facility is also set for further expansion. Plans are in place to develop a 40-acre integrated ecosystem that will cover the full industrial electronics value chain, including R&D, product design, manufacturing, and engineering services.
Speaking on the development, Chairman and Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan said, “The foray into industrial electronics is an important step towards our Lakshya 2031 aspiration of deepening technology leadership and enhancing India’s self-reliance in critical manufacturing. With LTEPS, we are bolstering the nation’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem while expanding our presence across high-growth, innovation-driven domains”.
The development aligns with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its role in innovation-led industries while supporting India’s goal of achieving self-reliance in critical manufacturing.
