Network Rail has appointed Linda Grabs as Human Resources Director, marking the next step in her long-standing career with the organisation and bringing extensive experience in people strategy, workforce transformation and organisational change to the role.
Grabs has spent much of her career at Network Rail, particularly within the North West & Central Region. Her experience covers people strategy, organisational effectiveness, employee and industrial relations, leadership development, talent management and workforce planning.
Before taking up the new position, she served as Regional Head of HR and was part of both the Regional Executive Team and HR Leadership Team. In that role, she led the regional people strategy and workforce plan while overseeing HR business partnering, organisation development and change, EDI and belonging, leadership development, talent and resourcing, strategic workforce planning, and employee and industrial relations.
Earlier, Grabs was Head of Human Resources – Capital Delivery & Regional Functions at Network Rail. She worked with Regional Executive Directors and leadership teams on people strategy, workforce requirements and organisational transformation.
Her responsibilities included leading the people aspects of major change programmes, strengthening HR governance and capability, managing trade union relationships, and supporting workforce planning and organisational design.
Grabs has also held positions including Senior Human Resources Business Partner and HR Business Partner at Network Rail. Across these roles, she worked with senior leaders and trade union representatives on organisational change, succession planning, talent management, employee relations, workforce capability and inclusion.
Her career also includes HR business partnering roles at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. There, she gained experience in workforce transformation, complex employee relations, organisational restructuring and recruitment improvement.
Earlier, Grabs worked as an HR Advisor with Thames Valley Police, providing specialist guidance on performance, attendance, conduct and capability matters.
Beyond her corporate career, she serves as a Board Trustee with New Life Church Milton Keynes, contributing to governance and strategic people matters.
In her new role, Grabs brings together deep knowledge of Network Rail with experience spanning people strategy, industrial relations, workforce planning, organisational transformation, leadership, talent, EDI and HR governance.
Her appointment comes as Network Rail continues its work to modernise Britain’s railway while developing the organisational capabilities needed to support passengers, freight users and communities.
