Kerala Police turns to private agencies to expand digital outreach

Kerala Police is looking to expand its digital presence by bringing private creative and media firms into its communication efforts. The department plans to engage third-party agencies to create content, develop media strategies and execute public relations campaigns.

As the first step, the police have invited Expressions of Interest from eligible media agencies for empanelment. This marks the first time the department is seeking private support on a larger scale for branding and public relations activities.

The initiative is aimed not only at strengthening the police department’s public image but also at creating greater awareness about the digital services and facilities available to citizens.

Police sources said the project will be funded under the Union government’s Integrated Communication and Public Outreach Programme (ICPOP).

“The central government has allocated funds under the ICPOP and that will be utilised for the project. This is a big project and the objective is to ensure that common man gets to know more about the digital facilities rolled out by the department,” an official said.

The move comes as Kerala Police remains focused on the high-profile Operation Toofan campaign, which the department also wants to promote on a wider scale.
