The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Keiju Mitsuhashi as its first Country Director for Türkiye, marking a new chapter in the institution’s engagement with the country. Mitsuhashi brings extensive experience in development finance, energy transition, country operations, policy planning, portfolio management and regional cooperation.
Before this appointment, Mitsuhashi served as Director of Energy at ADB, where he contributed to advancing energy transition initiatives across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He also previously held the position of Deputy Country Director in Vietnam, supporting the bank’s country operations and development priorities.
During his tenure at ADB, Mitsuhashi has held several key positions, including Principal Planning and Policy Economist, Senior Energy Specialist and Energy Specialist. His work has covered operational planning, innovation, knowledge solutions, performance measurement and the development of energy project pipelines across multiple markets, including Uzbekistan and the broader Central and West Asia region.
Before joining ADB, Mitsuhashi worked with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a Representative in Sri Lanka. He also spent 7 years with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, where he served in various capacities, including Representative, Deputy Director and Country Officer. His responsibilities included portfolio management, operational planning and country-level assignments across several Asian markets.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a Country Officer with the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund, handling responsibilities related to Africa.
In his new position as Country Director for Türkiye, Mitsuhashi will focus on strengthening the partnership between Türkiye and ADB. His priorities will include promoting resilience, supporting sustainable development and advancing regional connectivity.
