Junya Yamanishi Steps Down as Managing Director and CEO of SML Isuzu Limited

SML Isuzu Limited has officially announced that Junya Yamanishi will step down from his role as Managing Director and CEO, effective April 16, 2025. This follows a decision made by the company’s Board of Directors during their meeting on March 21, 2025, where they approved the transition of leadership.

Yamanishi’s departure comes as he transitions to a new position within Sumitomo Corporation, the promoter of SML Isuzu, in Japan. The company has expressed gratitude for his leadership and contributions during his tenure, which saw significant developments for SML Isuzu.

To succeed Yamanishi, the Board of Directors has appointed Yasushi Nishikawa as the new Managing Director and CEO, effective April 17, 2025, pending regulatory approvals. Nishikawa, with over 38 years of leadership experience at Sumitomo Corporation and extensive international exposure, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. His previous leadership positions at Mazda Motor Manufacturing de Mexico and Sumitomo Corporation de Mexico have prepared him well for leading SML Isuzu into its next phase of growth and development.

Additionally, the company has reappointed Anuj Kumar Sethi, an executive with over three decades at SML Isuzu, as Associate Vice President (AVP) for Corporate Planning, IT, and Special Application Cell. His reappointment will take effect on April 1, 2025, and he will continue to guide the company’s efforts in corporate planning, digital transformation, and specialized vehicle applications.

These changes, fully compliant with SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, are expected to ensure SML Isuzu’s continued success under strong, visionary leadership.
