Fresh leaks suggest that iQOO is working on a new addition to its upcoming flagship lineup, which is expected to launch as the iQOO 16T. While the company has not officially confirmed the device, a new report has revealed key details about its expected processor, display and cooling system.
According to a tipster, the iQOO 16T is currently being tested with Qualcomm’s SM8950 chipset, which is believed to be the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor expected to debut later this year. The report also claims that iQOO is evaluating another version powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 chipset, indicating that the final processor has not yet been decided.
The smartphone is expected to feature a flat Samsung display with 2K resolution. It is also tipped to include a built-in cooling fan to improve thermal management during intensive usage.
Previous leaks suggest that the iQOO 16 series could launch in September. The standard iQOO 16 is expected to feature a 6.85-inch flat LTPO OLED display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also rumoured to pack a battery larger than 7,000mAh with 100W wired fast charging support.
The handset is further expected to include a periscope telephoto camera and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Earlier reports also indicated that iQOO may have dropped plans to launch an 16 Ultra, choosing instead to position the standard 16 as its flagship model.
Another report suggested that the standard iQOO 16 may not launch in India. Rising memory prices are expected to push the smartphone’s price above Rs. 85,000, which could make it difficult for the brand to compete in the Indian market.
