Apple has expanded its Pro lineup with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing upgrades in performance, cameras, connectivity and battery life over the iPhone 17 Pro models.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1199 (around Rs. 1,14,000) for 256GB, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1299 (around Rs. 1,23,000). In India, they start at Rs. 1,64,900 and Rs. 1,79,900, respectively. Both are also available with 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage. The phones come in Black, Silver, Glacier and new Burgundy. Pre-orders open September 12, with sales starting September 18.
Both models run iOS 27 with new Apple Intelligence features and the new Siri AI. They include Spatial Reframing, Extend and an upgraded Clean Up. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max gets a 6.9-inch screen. Both use Super Retina XDR OLED panels with ProMotion and Always-On mode, along with an aluminium unibody. The Action button and Camera Control are retained.
The A20 Pro chip is built on a 2nm process and includes a 6-core CPU with Neural Accelerators, a 7-core GPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple claims 50% higher memory bandwidth than A19 Pro, up to 40% faster GPU performance and 2x AI processing power.
The triple rear camera system includes a 48-megapixel Fusion primary sensor with variable aperture, marking Apple’s first iPhone with adjustable aperture. It also has a 48-megapixel ultrawide and 48-megapixel telephoto camera. The 18-megapixel front camera adds autofocus and Centre Stage. Pro Controls allow manual adjustment of aperture, shutter speed and white balance, while Photographic Styles are also upgraded.
The Apple Reference Image feature uses signed sensor data and Private Cloud Compute to create an unalterable reference image for photo authenticity.
The updated Dynamic Island can show 3 Live Activities simultaneously and supports Face ID. Thermal management gets a redesigned vapour chamber with 3x the previous surface area.
Apple’s C2 modem offers improved cellular connectivity, faster uploads than C1X and 15% lower energy use, with mmWave support in the US.
The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max reaches 45 hours on eSIM-only versions. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours and 30 hours, respectively. The Pro can reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes wired or 30 minutes wirelessly. The Pro Max can provide around 7 hours of video playback from 5 minutes of wired charging.
Apple also introduced Silicone and TechWoven cases, Crossbody Straps, FineWoven Wallets and Wrist Strap accessories.
