Users now have more control over how tagged content appears on their Instagram profiles, with the platform rolling out a new option globally to move selected tagged posts to the main profile grid.
The feature lets users choose posts they are tagged in and display them alongside content they have posted themselves. Tagged posts can be moved from the dedicated Tagged section to the main profile grid. Users can also reverse the change later without affecting the original post or removing it from the Tagged section.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the global rollout in an Instagram post. The platform provides 3 ways to add a tagged post to the main grid. Users can select the option from the Direct Message notification received when they are tagged. They can also use the three-dot menu on the tagged post or press and hold a post in the Tagged tab.
Newly added tagged posts will follow the profile grid’s reverse-chronological order by default. However, users who have already rearranged their profile grid can keep their existing layout instead of having it reset when a tagged post is added.
Moving a tagged post to the main grid does not change the original upload. Users can later remove it from their profile grid without deleting the post or removing it from the Tagged section.
The feature can be useful for displaying group photos, creator collaborations and other memories that users may want to highlight. It gives users greater choice over which tagged posts appear on their profiles.
Instagram has started the rollout globally, but the platform has not shared a specific timeline for when the feature will become available to every account.
