Strengthening cooperation in sustainability and innovation, India and the Nordic countries have agreed to elevate their ties to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership during the 3rd India-Nordic Summit held in Oslo.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the leaders of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden to discuss key areas including clean and green transition, trade and investment, blue economy, emerging technologies, and global cooperation.

In a joint press statement after the summit, PM Modi said, “Today, we decided to elevate India-Nordic relations to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership. With this green technology partnership, we will ensure a better future for the entire world.”

The leaders also discussed ongoing global conflicts and international cooperation. Modi stated that India and the Nordic nations would continue working together to strengthen the rules-based global order.

“In this era of global tensions and conflicts, India and the Nordic nations will continue to work together to strengthen the rules-based global order. Whether it is Ukraine or West Asia, we will continue to support the earliest resolution of conflicts and efforts towards peace,” he said.

The summit further highlighted the importance of democratic values, multilateralism, and institutional reforms. Modi noted that both sides agreed reforms in multilateral institutions are “necessary and urgent.”

Earlier, the Prime Minister also shared details of the discussions on social media, saying the talks focused on sustainability, innovation, clean energy, emerging technologies, and building a peaceful and prosperous future.

“India and the Nordic countries are united by shared democratic values, trust and a common commitment towards human-centric development,” he said.

The partnership is expected to deepen collaboration between India and Nordic nations in green innovation, clean technology, and future-focused economic growth.
