Honor explores next-gen battery tech with potential 11,000mAh smartphone

In a sign of rapid innovation in smartphone battery technology, a new report suggests that Honor is working on a device with one of the largest batteries seen in mainstream phones.

According to a tipster, the company has begun trial production of a battery with a rated capacity of 10,690mAh and a typical capacity of 11,000mAh. While the exact model name has not been confirmed, early indications suggest it could belong to the Power series, likely as a successor to the Honor Power 2.

The Honor Power 2, launched earlier this year, features a 10,080mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging and 27W wired reverse charging. The device is claimed to deliver up to 14.2 hours of gaming and 17.3 hours of navigation on a single charge.

Honor has been actively expanding its portfolio of high-capacity battery smartphones. In December last year, the company introduced the Win and Win RT models with a 10,000mAh battery and support for up to 100W wired fast charging. These devices offer up to 16.4 hours of continuous gaming and 31.3 hours of video streaming, while the standard Win model also supports 80W wireless charging.

The Power 2 comes with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Elite chipset. It also features IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, along with a dual rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel sensor and a 16-megapixel front camera.

Meanwhile, the Win series includes a 6.83-inch display, 50-megapixel rear cameras, and a 50-megapixel front camera. The standard model runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, while the Win RT variant uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Other Android brands are also pushing battery limits. Devices like the OnePlus Nord 6 with a 9,000mAh battery and the Realme C100 4G with an 8,000mAh battery highlight a growing industry focus on extended battery life.

However, the company has not officially confirmed the development of the 11,000mAh battery device, and the details should be treated with caution.
