Sachin succeeds Vikram Kasbekar in the role and will lead innovation across Hero MotoCorp’s global R&D network, including its engineering and development centres in India and Germany. With close to 3 decades of experience in automotive R&D and technology leadership, he is expected to play a key role in enhancing the company’s capabilities in next-generation mobility, engineering excellence, and product innovation.
Before joining Hero MotoCorp, Sachin spent more than 14 years at VE Commercial Vehicles Limited in several senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President & Head of R&D and Technology, where he led large-scale innovation programs and technology strategy initiatives across the company.
Earlier at VE Commercial Vehicles, he held positions including Executive Vice President – Technology and Senior Vice President – R&D and Technology, contributing significantly to product development and engineering advancement.
He also served as Vice President – Product Development, leading the design and development of complete powertrains, including engines, drivelines, and electrical and electronic systems for commercial vehicles across multiple tonnage categories. During this period, he also played a major role in developing Volvo medium-duty engine platforms in India while managing teams of more than 150 engineers.
Prior to this, Sachin spent over 10 years at Eicher Trucks and Buses as General Manager – Product Development, where he contributed to engineering innovation and core product development initiatives.
He began his professional journey with Daewoo Motors India Limited as a Senior Engineer, building strong expertise in automotive engineering and vehicle development.
Apart from his corporate responsibilities, Sachin currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Emission & Conservation Group at Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, supporting industry-level sustainability and policy initiatives.
