In a move to redefine how users interact with information online, the tech giant has introduced new upgrades to AI Mode in its browser, focusing on making search more seamless and context-aware.
The latest update enables a side-by-side browsing experience, allowing users to open web pages alongside the search interface. This means users can read content, compare sources, and ask follow-up questions without losing context. The feature is designed to support continuous research and improve focus while navigating multiple sources.
For example, while exploring products like a coffee maker, users can view a retailer’s website in split screen and simultaneously ask AI-related queries about performance or maintenance. The system combines on-page data with broader web insights to deliver more relevant responses.
The update also strengthens AI Mode’s ability to gather context from multiple inputs. Users can now include open tabs, images, and documents in their queries using a new “+” menu within the search interface. This helps generate more tailored and informed responses.
The feature is expected to benefit a wide range of use cases. Students can combine lecture notes, PDFs, and web pages for deeper understanding, while users researching travel can include multiple tabs to receive better recommendations.
Additionally, AI-powered tools such as Canvas and image generation are being integrated across more parts of the browser, improving accessibility and usability.
According to the company, early testers found the side-by-side interface particularly useful for maintaining focus, especially when reviewing long-form content or videos.
The new features are currently being rolled out in the US and are expected to expand to other regions in the coming months.
