European scientific researchers will gain broader access to advanced artificial intelligence tools under a new initiative announced by Google DeepMind and Google Cloud on Wednesday. The programme will support up to 200 researchers with direct access to frontier AI models and $3 million in computing credits.
The initiative aims to help scientists address complex research challenges more quickly by providing access to specialised AI tools developed by the companies.
The available tools will include AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations. Researchers will be able to use these technologies to work on scientific problems ranging from predicting extreme weather patterns to mapping molecular structures.
The companies said the initiative is designed to strengthen scientific research by giving European researchers direct access to advanced AI capabilities and computing resources.
