Avenue Supermarts Ltd., the operator of DMart, has appointed Lalit Ahuja as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). With nearly 30 years of leadership experience across the consumer goods, retail, and technology sectors, Lalit will lead DMart’s operational strategy, focusing on business growth, retail excellence, supply chain efficiency, customer experience, and execution across the supermarket chain.
Before joining DMart, Lalit spent nearly 11 years with Zydus Wellness, where he held several leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President – India & Subcontinent (Sales), leading the sales organisation across traditional trade, modern trade, digital commerce, B2B, and food service channels. Earlier, he was Vice President – India & Subcontinent (Sales), driving the transformation of the company’s integrated sales organisation, and previously served as National Sales Head, where he strengthened sales capabilities, accelerated innovation adoption, and built a future-ready commercial organisation.
Earlier in his career, Lalit was Sales Head – West at Apple, where he led business growth and strengthened the company’s market presence across Western India.
Before Apple, he served as National Sales Manager at Mars, playing a key role in building the company’s sales and distribution capabilities during its expansion in India while developing high-performing sales teams.
He also held leadership roles at Godrej Consumer Products Limited and Dabur India Limited, where he led sales transformation, route-to-market initiatives, capability development, regional business growth, and distribution expansion.
Lalit began his professional journey with organisations including Philips, Pepsi, General Mills, and DCC, building expertise in sales, distribution, customer management, and marketing.
With experience spanning nearly 3 decades across FMCG, retail, consumer health, consumer technology, and sales leadership, Lalit brings deep expertise in business transformation, commercial strategy, retail operations, customer-focused growth, organisational capability building, and large-scale execution. His appointment is expected to further strengthen DMart’s operational excellence and long-term growth.
