$90B VC Firm Hit by Cyberattack: Insight Partners Confirms Sensitive Data Compromise

Insight Partners, a venture capital firm managing over $90 billion in regulated assets, has announced that data belonging to an undisclosed number of individuals was compromised due to a cyberattack in January.

The breach allowed unauthorized access to personal information of current and former employees, as well as data related to limited partners, management companies, portfolio firms, and certain funds, including sensitive tax and banking information. The firm plans to notify those affected in the coming days.

This disclosure follows the firm’s earlier connection of the cyberattack to a sophisticated social engineering scheme, although this claim has not yet been verified. This incident also echoes a 2021 ransomware attack on Advanced Technology, another Silicon Valley venture capital firm, which similarly compromised limited partner data.
